Self-portrait unveiled their inaugural self-portrait Residency collection last night during a live immersive event in London hosted by Han Chong and Christopher Kane
Christopher Kane, the programme’s first Resident, has been designing from the brand’s headquarters in London, and last night revealed his collection of thirty looks in front of a live audience at Alva Coachwork Studios. Over 100 guests from the creative and fashion industry gathered for a unique experience where a campaign and lookbook shoots unfolded in real-time. Guests included Edie Campbell, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Laura Carmichael, Laura Haddock, Jessica Plummer, Katie Grand, Suzy Menkes, Sarah Mower etc. Rochelle Canteen’s Margot Henderson curated a seasonal three-course menu for the event, perfectly complemented by Bird in Hand Wines’ Chardonnay and Syrah. As the evening unfolded, guests enjoyed cocktails, including Classic Negronis crafted with Campari and refreshing Campari Spritzes.
Guests entered the venue to photographer George Eyres wrapping the lookbook shoot which was captured earlier in the day at the event space. Images are revealed today.
In to the evening, photographer Larissa Hoffman captured a cast of models for the campaign including Colin Jones, Marina Perez, Hannah Motler to name a few, as the studio was transformed into an intimate at-home backdrop. The Campaign images from the event will roll out from next week.
To mark the launch of the collection, self-portrait Residency yesterday teased two campaign images starring Kane’s longtime supporter Carine Roitfeld, shot at home in Paris by Larissa Hoffman, wearing pieces from the collection. Campaign imagery captured at last night’s event will be released throughout the weeks ahead.
Christopher Kane’s Residency collection reinterprets key elements from his archival collections including references to his first ever eponymous collection from spring/summer 2007. The new collection includes a striking blend of textures, including crystal chainmail, soft lace ruffles, and satin dresses with bias cuts and intricate lace panels. Kane's signature subversive elegance is highlighted through refined knitwear with lace cut-outs, crystal embellishment mini dresses, and a playful colour palette. Completing the looks are crystal bolster necklaces and handbags with ruffled lace handles.
