“Paris Comes to Orange County” headlined a January 1975 press article to announce the opening of Courrèges’ second US boutique in Costa Mesa’s exclusive South Coast Plaza. On July 22nd 2024, the Parisian House recreates this momentous event, rekindling its historical ties to the Southern California way of life.
Compelled by a shared obsession for modernist architecture and star-bound cinema, this new Courrèges boutique celebrates the visual optimism that binds the House’s geometric narrative to the SoCal state of mind.
Belgian architect Bernard Dubois is the brain behind this new space, which he conceived in the continuity of his previous spaces for the brand. Chrome pillars, mirrored ceilings and dressing rooms, and of course, heritage white flooring echo the freshly inaugurated Marais boutique in Paris, and the brand’s unmistakable design codes, modernized by its Artistic Director Nicolas Di Felice. Modular mirror panels in the window evoke the inside of a disco ball, while integrated furniture and railings in tone-on-tone white create a serene atmosphere. The monolithic island in the center of the space hides away accessories and jewelry, streamlining the sales experience and creating distinct corners for the men’s and women’s collections at the heart of Courrèges‘ unique designs and creations. A stronghold of the Courrèges spirit in the blossoming SoCal fashion scene, this new space embodies the far-reaching ambitions of Artistic Director Nicolas Di Felice’s sun-filled collections.
