Burberry's Daniel Lee makes his big debut at London Fashion Week
Daniel Lee unveils his first collection for Burberry. The pressure was on ahead of Monday night's show as industry observers expected Daniel Lee to usher in a new era for Burberry, recreating it in the wake of the Riccardo Tisci period. After the runway, Lee told the media that he wants to “celebrate what’s great about the country.” "I'm always inspired, which makes London special and is why I'm so thrilled to be back here. When you walk down the street you see people from so many different walks of life living together and that’s something that I’ve missed.”
The fashion industry decamped to a specially designed building in a Kennington Park, South London, a venue situated between an old English garden and a cricket field, on Monday night. The show venue, created by Lee, highlights Burberry's longstanding relationship with outdoor exploration. The intimate interior is reminiscent of early 20th-century Burberry tents and conveys a coziness that offers warmth and protection from the elements.
