The live shoot took place during an event hosted by Han Chong, self-portrait’s founder and Creative Director, and Christopher Kane, the brand’s inaugural Resident designer, where guests at the 100 person dinner were fully immersed into the shoot setting.
Han Chong, Founder and Creative Director of self-portrait said, "I wanted to find a new way to reveal this collection, in keeping with the spirit and ethos of why we started our Residency programme - something modern, unexpected and which celebrates togetherness. Recently collaborations have felt transactional, so with self-portrait Residency, I wanted to create something that feels alive, connected, and reflective of the creative energy of today. Guests were able to explore and be part of the creative process, experiencing the collection in real-time, and will see the results come to life in this series of images. I hope these portraits capture our collective ambition for what we hope will be an inspiring ongoing new way to collaborate.”
The full series will roll out in the coming weeks featuring a wider cast of models, all celebrating Kane’s collection.
Christopher Kane’s Residency collection draws deeply from his archives, including nods to his debut Spring/Summer 2007 collection. The range blends his signature subversive elegance with modernity, incorporating crystal chainmail, delicate lace ruffles, and bias-cut satin dresses with intricate lace panels. The collection also features refined knitwear with lace cut-outs, crystal-embellished mini dresses, and a vibrant color palette, complemented by crystal bolster necklaces and ruffled lace-handle handbags.
