The Vivienne Westwood 2024 Sun Collection references a painterly palette - washing the face with broad strokes of colour. Futuristic iridescent and metallic materials contrast with the soft and playful Baroque palette, across bold vintage inspired silhouettes.
The new collection is brought to life through a campaign shot in Mumbai by local artist and creative director Kshitij Kankaria - which captures the colour and vitality of the city. When asked about the inspiration behind his visuals, he explained, 'When I dwelled into Vivienne Westwood's vision as a brand and the principles behind their imagery, I immediately got reminded of the bustling quality of Mumbai's streets.'
Kshitij's sensibility for his subjects is feit through his work. There is an attention to detail as he captures the places and people who have inspired him through the years. 'Most of the subjects are my friends with whom I spend my time in India,' he shares. "They are brilliant creatives in their own rights - each with a personal style that stands out.' His portraits reveal the energy of the ever-evolving Indian capital and celebrates its colourful characters and their individualities, which 'somehow maintain a strange unity."
The collection itself proposes timeless pieces, featuring bold splashes of colour and proportions; a design choice that was not lost on Kshitij, as he conceptualised the shoot. Each style unites heritage details with contemporary elements.
