The Vivienne Westwood 2025 Sun Collection references vintage styles, Baroque inspired frames and intricate embellishments.
Vibrant colours contrast; acid pink and yellow appear alongside tortoiseshell, silver, black and silver. The new designs present an homage to counterculture, borne from the outer edges of art and music, successfully mixing tradition and modernity.
Classic shapes take inspiration from 50s and 60s photo booth imagery. Preppy styles echo those worn by underground musicians and originators of rock ‘n’ roll. Bespoke details feature on metal work and hinges, whilst pearls, a house motif, feature on embellished frames creating unusual silhouettes and intricate detailing.
The Vivienne Westwood orb is seen throughout the collection. Sculptural, it sits on the hinge of the frame or is found embossed into metal work. Inspired by the iconic Westwood ‘Horns’ headwear, the ‘Soo’s’ exaggerated frame is embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Each style makes its own individual statement. The ‘Sunday’ is oversized, the lens encased by a unique frame imprinted with a Baroque painting by Francois Boucher (1703 – 1770); the ‘Reed’ has a classic tortoiseshell frame modernised with bespoke metal work; and the ‘Balmoral’ nods to the glamour of yesteryear, the bold frames amplified by metal work featuring the orb.
