There is no question that abortion rights are under attack in the United States. Anti-abortion activists have been working tirelessly to chip away at access to abortion, and they have been largely successful. In the past few years, dozens of states have passed laws restricting abortion access, and the Supreme Court has upheld some of these restrictions. With the addition of Brett Kavanaugh to the Court, abortion rights advocates are even more worried about the future of abortion in the United States.
Since the election of Donald Trump, anti-abortion activists have been working tirelessly to chip away at access to safe and legal abortion care. They have been successful in passing a number of restrictive laws at the state level, and the Supreme Court has now taken up a case that could potentially overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that legalized abortion nationwide. With the balance of the court hanging in the balance, it is clear that abortion rights are very much at risk in the United States.
Abortion rights advocates are fighting back, though. They are working to elect pro-choice candidates to office and to raise awareness about the importance of abortion access. And they are hopeful that the tide will eventually turn in their favor.
