Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, a book, was first published in 1997, marking the start of the Harry Potter series. The exploits of young wizard Harry Potter, his pals Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, who are all students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, are chronicled in the book by British author J.K. Rowling.
According to J.K. Rowling, she had the inspiration for the Harry Potter books while traveling by train from Manchester to London in 1990. She had just gone through a divorce and was battling depression at the time. She claimed that the concept of a young child enrolling at a school of magic just came to her, and she immediately started to create the series' characters and plot. Additionally, she's claimed that her personal experiences as a single mother.
Around 500 million copies of J.K. Rowling's book series have been sold worldwide, and they have been turned into a lucrative film franchise. Video games, other products, and a profitable theme park have all been inspired by the books.
And of course the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book in the series, is the most well-known Harry Potter book.
