Musically, The Alexander Technique strips down Rex's sound to a minimalistic fusion of stream-of-consciousness R&B and indie-folk, while still retaining the rich orchestral layers that have become his signature. The album marks a shift into more mature territory, offering a glimpse into the artist's inner world. "It’s almost a diary," Rex explains, describing the project as a reflection of his experiences over the past few years. Spanning a longer duration and more musical variety than any of his previous work, The Alexander Technique began before and was completed after his 2022 album, WHO CARES? Listening to it, one can feel the artist’s real-time evolution, confronting life’s challenges as they come.
One standout track is "Look Me In The Eyes," a hauntingly beautiful collaboration with fellow English musician James Blake, who produced the song. This collaboration adds yet another layer of depth to an album already brimming with emotion.
Rex has long been known for his love songs, but with The Alexander Technique, he ventures beyond romance to explore broader themes. "This is the first time I’m trying to make a project about everything in life. In my mind, it’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to make," he says.
To complement the release, Rex Orange County is set to embark on a headline tour across North America and the UK, bringing The Alexander Technique to life with a theatrical stage show. This tour will feature performances in iconic venues, culminating in four sold-out dates at the prestigious London Palladium next February.
With The Alexander Technique, Rex Orange County isn’t just delivering another album—he’s offering a raw, unfiltered look into his personal growth and creative evolution, laying the groundwork for the next act of his career.
