Francesco 'Pecco' Bagnaia is the 2022 Moto Gp World Champion. The '97 native of Turin is the first Italian ever to do it on a Ducati, giving the Borgo Panigale manufacturer the second riders title in history at a distance of 15 years since that of Casey Stoner.
The last italian rider to be crowned world champion, on the other hand, was Valentino Rossi with Yamaha in 2009, while scrolling through the roll of honor you have to go back to 1972 to find an Italian champion on an Italian bike: Giacomo Agostini with the MV Augusta in class 500.
For Pecco Bagnaia the ninth place obtained in the Valencia Grand Prix in the last round of the season was decisive, with his rival Fabio Quartararo coming fourth at the finish line.
